Fused glass morning and afternoon classes

Come and spend a morning or afternoon exploring fused glass and getting creative.  Come see the fused glass pieces Matt created for this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show installation and make your own fused glass mini garden sculpture, art piece or festive and seasonal creations.  This class is really about freedom of expression and experimentation where you can come and explore glass fusing by using whatever colours and patterns you want. 

Under close guidance from Matt and with examples as your guide, explore, experiment and have fun making your unique artwork or glass sculpture.

The fused glass classes are for both beginners and those with more experience.

Prices- All classes are £75 each. This includes all glass, materials and firing in the kiln. All classes must be paid for in advance.  Please check the terms and conditions, which can be found at the bottom of this page, before booking. If you would like to pay via cash or cheque please get in touch and I can forward payment details.

Overview - What to expect on the morning or afternoon workshop

We provide either four 20cm x 10cm clear glass bases or two 20cm x 20cm bases for you to have as a glass foundation.  You can then use whatever glass combinations you want to create your own art pieces.  We will have examples on show of the different types of projects you can make, but please feel like you can go in any creative direction you want.

What you can make - How you choose to use the glass and materials is up to you. Matt will provide tutoring and guidance at all stages of the way, for whatever project you choose.  We will have examples of mini glass garden sculptures, art pieces and festive/seasonal creations. You can however choose to make what you want with the materials provided.

Materials - The glass bases, all glass types (from glass powder to sheet glass) and all equipment will be provided. The firing of your work is also included in the price. We use CO96 glass if you want to bring any of your own.

Time - Morning - 9.30am till 12pm OR Afternoon 1.30pm till 4pm

Parking - There is adequate free parking opposite the studio

Refreshments - There will be tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the session. Feel free to bring your own food and drink.

Collecting your work - Your work will be fired after your class in the kiln and is ready for collection by the Friday of the following week. We will email you when your work is ready for collection to arrange a time. If you are unable to collect your work, we can post it to you at the cost of £10, which includes careful packing.

Accessibility and safety - While creating and working on the projects, you will be standing, which will make up a large portion of the day, so please be aware of this.  There are chairs if you want a rest from standing.  Please also wear comfortable closed shoes.  I want to make the course accessible to all, so if you have any disabilities or physical limitations please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate everyone.  The class is on the mezzanine floor, so you will need to be able to climb one set of stairs.

Health & safety - You will be handling and cutting glass. Training will be given but in a glass workshop environment there is always the possibility of getting glass cuts or picking up small glass splinters. Safety glasses and gloves will be provided. When working with fine glass powders, a mask will need to be worn. A mask will be provided.

Liability - We will provide a health and safety briefing at the beginning of the class. We do have Public Liability insurance but cannot be held responsible for any illness or injury that occurs from not following the health and safety guidance given.

Terms & Conditions - ​

In the unfortunate event that a class, workshop or course that you are booked onto has to be cancelled for any reason, I will let you know as soon as possible and either offer an alternative or a refund.

If you are unable to attend a class, workshop or course that you are booked onto please let me know as soon as possible.  If this is within 4 weeks of the course start date then all payments will be refunded.

If you do not wish to continue on a class, workshop or course after the start date you will not be eligible for a refund.

You may swap your place with someone else, but please let me know in advance and provide me with their contact details.
